Photo Metadata Viewer
Open a photo to view EXIF data, check whether GPS location exists, and inspect camera, device and timestamp details — then remove private metadata if you want a clean copy.
How it works
-
1
Open your photo
Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP. The file stays on your device.
-
2
Inspect privacy-sensitive tags
See GPS status, camera or phone details, timestamps and other embedded metadata when present.
-
3
Remove private metadata
Download a re-encoded copy with privacy-sensitive tags stripped — or keep browsing related cleanup tools.
What you can check
- See whether a photo contains GPS / location tags
- View camera or phone model before sharing
- Inspect capture time and related EXIF fields
- Confirm a file is clean after an earlier export
Image metadata viewer vs metadata remover
An EXIF viewer answers “what is in this file?” A remover answers “give me a shareable copy without private tags.” Pixhide offers both: inspect here, then strip with one click or continue to Remove EXIF data / Remove GPS location.
That funnel matches real searches — photo metadata viewer, view EXIF data, check photo location, photo GPS checker — without duplicating a thin second remover page.
See where a photo was taken — with caution
If GPS is present, the file can reveal where it was shot even when the picture looks ordinary. Checking location data before you post travel, home or kids’ photos is a simple privacy habit. Pixhide never sends the image to a server to perform that check.
Privacy
Your photo stays on your device. Pixhide processes images directly in your browser. The original image, detected areas and exported file are not sent to our servers.
Limits
Not every image contains EXIF. Screenshots, many social re-downloads and some PNG exports may show little or no metadata. Visible landmarks are separate from hidden GPS tags.
FAQ
- What is a photo metadata viewer?
- It lets you inspect hidden EXIF and related tags in an image — such as GPS coordinates, camera or phone model, and capture time — without guessing from the picture alone.
- Can I check where a photo was taken?
- If GPS tags are present, Pixhide reports that location data was found. Coordinates stay on your device; they are not uploaded. Remove them with the clean-download button when you are ready.
- Is this different from Remove EXIF?
- Yes. This page focuses on viewing privacy-sensitive metadata first. Remove EXIF data is the cleanup-oriented page. Both run locally; the viewer is the inspect step, the remover is the strip step.
- Does Pixhide upload my image?
- No. Metadata is read in your browser. Face and plate detectors are not loaded on this page.
- Which formats can I open?
- JPG, PNG and WebP in modern browsers. Some PNG or edited exports may contain little or no EXIF.
- Is the photo GPS checker free?
- Yes. View EXIF data and check photo location online with no account and no watermark.
